Welcome to The Segrave 100 – Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Sir Henry Segrave setting a new World Land Speed record of 152.33 MPH at Ainsdale Beach.

We are delighted to confirm that the Sunbeam will be coming back to Southport for the celebrations, by the kind patronage of the family of VJ Mallya, who will drive the car across the Ainsdale sands on Monday 16th March 2026, to mark the 100th anniversary.
The World Land Speed Record set at Ainsdale in 1926, was the last occasion such a record was set by a conventional circuit racing car and not a purpose-built land speed record car.
It was also the car with the smallest engine capacity to hold the land speed record, with just a 4 litre, V12 supercharged Sunbeam engine producing just over 300bhp.
